Magnificent Melbourne

Will post pictures when I get easier access to Wifi.  Yesterday we travelled to Melbourne.  I fell in love with the city within the first few seconds.  What a gorgeous city.  The mixture of Victorian Buildings and gleaming towers are fantastic.  Multiculturalism is alive here.  It almost is as mixed as Toronto.  Parks and monuments fill the city.

We are staying in St. Kilda, a suburb about 4 miles south of the city centre right along the shores of Port Philips bay.  St. Kilda is famous for its beaches.  The water looks inviting and there were even some fairy penguins for us to view in the evening

It is not hard to see why Melbourne has been declared the most liveable city in the world the past three years running.  I could easily find my home here.

Today we are off Philip Island along the Tasman Sea.  There we will see koalas, eat chocolate and view the largest ferry penguin colony in the world.

  1. In spite of the snow, again, 7 AWUC's went to the Pancake dinner tonight at St. Ansgars. The food was good and their choir lively. Unfortunately our choir couldn't make it but I'm sure if you were there you could be coaxed into singing. Driving home was dangerous in parts because there were power outages around Lawrence and the DVP. Agh... snow....Can we give that up for Lent? If only. Hope you enjoyed the koalas and chocolate. People have remarked that they like the pic of you with your nephew Charlie.
